A New Chair in the Family: Meet Joe Tarantola
Every barbershop says “we're like a family.” We try to use that word carefully — because when a new person joins a five-chair shop, it isn't like hiring at a big company. Everyone shares the same floor, the same standard, the same clients. A new chair changes the room.
So we take our time. And this time, we found someone worth the wait: Joe Tarantola joins Land of Barbers this week.
New York → Italia → New York
Joe's story runs in the same direction as ours, just in reverse order. Born in New York and raised in Italy, he has spent over thirty years behind the chair — long enough to develop his own method and his own eye. He built his craft in Italian salons, developed a signature approach to cutting that follows the natural movement of hair, and spent years teaching and developing other stylists along the way.
Now he's back in New York, and his chair is at 146 Franklin Street.
